KIDZ ON DIRT - Saturday 1st May 2010 - ENTRIES NOW OPEN
WOW what a turn up for Speedway Karting... Kidz on Dirt are the closing feature for the Gosford Regional Show on Saturday 1st May.
Not only does your entry free including your entry into the inaugural running of the kids only Kidz on Dirt... but it also includes FREE ENTRY TO GOSFORD REGIONAL SHOW for each competitor and one (1) Pit Crew!!!
All additional Pit Crew and Visitors will need to purchase and Entry Ticket to the show but at just $10 each or $25 for a family, it's a bargain for what you get access to in addition to our race meeting. Additional tickets can be pre-purchased at the same time as pre-paying your race entry.
We also are very excited to announce that there is also $1,000 in prize money on offer for this race meeting.

StarFM - Mandy gets Dirty!!!
Mandy Coolen from StarFM came along to our recent Come 'n' Try Day to have a go, and she sure gave it a great blast. She has laid down the challenge to Rod and The Flack to prove that they have the courage to also come and play in the dirt. The lady racers of our Club seriously doubt that they have what it takes!!!

Club Membership Renewals
All Club Memberships MUST be renewed this coming weekend. As per the AKA Karting Manual, all licence holders must remain a current financial member of an AKA Club for their licence to remain valid. Any licence holders who don't maintain their Club Memberships may be have their licences suspended by the AKA until their Membership is renewed. |

Change to Committee
As of our Committee Meeting held on the 9th February 2010, Trish Maastricht resigned at Club Secretary effective immediately. After 5 years in this role Trish has decided that it is time to hand over the reigns. She will continue in the roles of AKA Delegate, Showground Trust Delegate, Webmaster as well as a Race Day Official, so we won't be losing all of her valuable input just yet.
In her time as Club Secretary, Trish has overseen many changes and improvements, including development of the Club Website, EFTPOS facilities, updated Kart Torque Newsletter, cash registers and computer system, to name just a few. She has also seen our Membership numbers nearly double as well. So I hope everybody can thank her personally when you next see her for her dedication to our Club and sport.
We are pleased to welcome Jayne Peters as our new Club Secretary. Jayne will also be filling the roles of Race Secretary and Roster Manager. We wish her every success and ask for you to give her your support.

Change of Calendar Dates
We were hoping to get off to a great start and were ready to go, however, the storms and downpour of rain we received late last Friday, put paid to any chance of racing ! The forecast is not looking much better for this weekend either.
Therefore, at our Committee meeting this week, we have decided to make the following date/event changes, as many people haven't had a chance to run in motors, practice with a new kart or its setup etc. We also have a large number of Come & Try people itching to get in the seat and have a go, as well as people waiting to do their OLT.
Come & Try day now - Saturday 20th Feb
Practice Day now - Sunday 21st Feb
The Kidz on Dirt meeting we have decided to postpone to a date to be advised later in the year (also due to the above factors), but for any Midgets, Rookies and Juniors still wanting a run, please come along on Practice Day, and we'll try to ensure that you all go out in the same runs in the afternoon, and we will still make it a fun day, and give out some prizes based on fastest lap, most improved etc. |

Track Flooding
Thought people might like to see the results of the massive storm that came through Gosford today. I think it might explain why this weekend has been cancelled unless you have floaties and an outboard motor fixed to your kart! Gosford had over 10cm of rain dumped on it in less than an hour.
For new people, this section of the track is commonly referred to as "Duck Lake"!!!

Membership Renewals NOW DUE
All memberships must be renewed prior to Round 1 for your points for Round 1 to count to the Club Championship. We will be at the track on the 6th & 7th February for the Come 'n' Try and Practice Days and are happy to process them at that time. |

Registration Day / Swap Meet
We will be hosting a pre-season Registration Day and Swap Meet on 23/01/2010 at Precision Motorsport Unit 7 / 10 Donaldson St North Wyong.
It would be extremely beneficial to all Members to make use of this day to renew your 2010 Club Membership.

Tumbi Wholesale Promotion Day Thanks

Online Licence Renewals
Just a reminder that all current licence holders will have been sent a log in and password to the AKA website that will enable them to apply for their licence renewals directly to the AKA.
If your licence has already expired, or will expire within 5 days, renewals will still need to be done through our Club Secretary. This can be done at any time other than race day morning as time doesn't permit for us to them then, however they can be done at any other time during the day, so long as they haven't already expired.
This new system will be of great benefit to all. |

Compulsory Transponders for all Karters
All licence holders must have a compulsory personal transponder by 1/7/10. AKA National will be providing all Clubs with a transponder system.
The AKA does realise that this may be a financial issue for some, so provisions will be put in place to assist karters to meet the costs involved, so as to not disadvantage anyone. For example, multiple karters in a family, low income, etc. Details of these provisions have yet to be finalised but it will probably be in the form of a lay-by system.
Each transponder will be registered against each karters licence number, therefore unfortunately, people won't be able to share them.
This will not be the same situation as with clutches, this will definitely be happening. A contract has already been signed between AKA National and AMB, so they are committed to seeing this through.
Transponders are a huge step forward for all karters as it will provide a seamless integration to the new Race Management computer system, which will remove any issues of human error. It will also speed up the running of events by taking the pressure off lapscorers to keep a constant tally of points, and will provide instant information about grid positions to the officials in the event of a race restart after a stoppage. Therefore we see this a very positive outcome for all involved.
Transponders have been in use on by most bitumen karters and Clubs for many years and have proven themselves to be a invaluable benefit to all who use them.
The normal purchase price for personal transponders is approximately $350-$400, however the AKA has been able to secure discount pricing for a short time (until 7/8/10). Once they are released, this discount price will be around $285 inc. GST. After this time, the cost will increase by the CPI each year.
